Downtown West is a well-endowed neighborhood that has a large residential population, especially close to the Mississippi River. The neighborhood has an urban feel, and most of the housing options here are either high-rise apartments or condo buildings. There are both renovated warehouses and new constructions in the area. Housing is affordable for the middle and upper-middle class population, and if you fall in these categories, you will find the neighborhood to be an incredible place to live in. Residents here tend to be quite liberal as well.


There are new shops and restaurants mainly located along the Mississippi River waterfront which cater to resident and visitors alike. Other amenities in Downtown East include the light-rail access, the new Radisson RED hotel, high-tech loft and the popular Downtown East Commons – the “calming escape” from Downtown East’s urban life.


Throughout history, North Loop was an industrial area that was characterized by numerous factories and warehouses. The Warehouse District briefly went to despair in the 1960s, but it reemerged in the 1980s to become one of the fastest growing districts in the Minneapolis area. Today, North Loop has accelerated to become one of the most hyped neighborhoods in


Nicollet Island-East Bank is located between Northeast and Downtown Minneapolis. The area was founded as the City of St. Anthony in the 1800s, and it is one of the early neighborhoods that formed what is known as the general Minneapolis area today. The city is home to historical structures, including the city’s oldest church, the oldest wood-frame homes, and old businesses, including multi-generational empires.


Marcy Holmes neighborhood may be old but it is slowly catching up with other nearby cities like Dinkytown. It has a diverse collection of older homes and buildings but the University of Minnesota is enhancing the emergence of newer, modern units to cater for the influx of students. The people in Marcy Holmes are also quite friendly, promoting a deeper sense of community. Expect a stranger to walk up to you and shake your hand. This is quite the norm here.


The park was previously known as Central Park, but in 1890, its name was changed to Loring Park in honor of the first superintendent of the new Minneapolis park system, Charles Loring. After this name change, the park was groomed to become a beautiful site which sparked a building boom in the neighborhood. Small and large homes, mansions, high-rise apartments, and hotels developed around the area, and this is what came to be known as the Loring Park neighborhood.


Elliot Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods located just south of downtown Minneapolis. It was first surveyed in the early 19th century, exactly four years after Minneapolis had been founded. It derives its name from a neighborhood park whose land was donated by a physician known as Dr. Joseph Elliot.


Originally, Steven’s Square was a minute suburbia that only comprised of lavish mansions. As the population started rising, high-rise estates also sprouted in the area characterized by brownstone apartment complexes. Today, Steven’s Square is an amalgamation of brownstone buildings and the archaic mansions that are often split to form apartments as well.


Lowry Hill is a wedge-shaped neighborhood located to the southwest of Minneapolis. The town is bordered by Lyndale Avenue to the East, Lake Hennepin Avenue to the west, and Lake Street to the south. An aerial view of Lowry Hill shows the neighborhood to have a near triangular shape earning it the nickname ‘the Wedge’. As part of Calhoun Isle community, Lowry Hill is ranked as an uptown community and is famous for the first horse-drawn streetcar.

The University of Minnesota is a neighborhood that’s located within the greater community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A great proportion of this neighborhood is occupied by the University of Minnesota, hence the name of the area. Located in the Twin Cities, the university occupies over 1,150 acres of land within Minneapolis and St. Paul. The campus stretches across these two major cities commonly known as the twin cities. The University of Minnesota neighborhood is divided by the Mississippi River, and this makes it the only neighborhood in Minneapolis that is located on both sides of the river.

East Isles is coveted for its access to many recreational amenities located close to Lake of the Isles and Lake Calhoun. Cedar-Isles-Dean is one of the best neighborhoods to live in Minneapolis. The neighborhood is located in Hennepin County, and it is bordered by the Kenilworth Lagoon to the North, West Lake Street to the South, Lake of the Isles to the East, and France Avenue South to the West. Cedar-Isles-Dean is considered one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Minneapolis, and it is an excellent place to live and work. The area has a diverse population of over 6, 432 according to the latest statistics. It is made up of people from different descents, and the residents in this area are incredibly friendly and liberal.


The neighborhood is also home to architectural and cultural landmarks. For example, the Sumner Community Library is one of the great landmarks since the 1900s. Other significant landmarks include the Carnegie Library which is has earned local and national recognition. Near-North is a self-sufficient neighborhood that has quickly risen to become a fast-growing area in Minneapolis.

St. Anthony West is a historic and affluent neighborhood located in the northeastern part of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  This neighborhood was established back in 1849 along the banks of the Mississippi River as Saint Anthony Falls village. Located within a walking distance of the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis downtown, St. Anthony West is home to the upscale Boom Island Park, a famous 14-acre riverside park that is a hotspot for locals and visitors. The neighborhood is also the headquarters of Graco Inc – the leading manufacturer of fluid handling systems and components.


Beltrami is a small neighborhood located in the heart of Minneapolis. The neighborhood is located just a few minutes away from the University of Minnesota. It was named after Italian scholar, Giacomo Constantino Beltrami, and a monument in his honor is still located in the neighborhood to date. Beltrami has four boundaries: Broadway St. NE to the north, Interstate 35W to the east, Central Avenue and Harrison St. NE to the west, and East Hennepin Ave. to the south. The neighborhood’s close proximity to a major university and downtown Minneapolis is one of the reasons why it is a favorite among many people.


Como is a busy neighborhood with lots of commercial activity. There are lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, retail stores, home goods stores, car parts store, auto repair garages, and other businesses in the area. The neighborhood also has public and private schools, health care and child care centers, student housing, several churches, and a mosque. The neighborhood is also close to several parks where one can go to enjoy sports, ride bikes, walk, or relax as they watch nature’s beauty. If you are not a fan of parks, you can go shopping, enjoy exotic food and drinks in the restaurants and bars, or tour the neighborhood’s historic sites.


This is a historic neighborhood that’s located within the University Community in Minneapolis. Prospect Park-East occupies 138 acres of Minneapolis, and in 2015, it was listed as the Prospect Park Residential Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood received this honor due to its significance in the theme for social history in the U.S. Prospect Park-East is bordered by Mississippi River to the South, Burlington Northern railroad yard to the north, St. Paul to the east, and the Stadium Village to the west.


As much as most of the buildings were established years ago, living in Shingle Creek feels really urban. You have access to all kinds of amenities that include parks, commercial centers, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping stalls, gymnasiums, and markets etc. The neighborhood is also home to world-class schools private and public schools such as the Olson Middle School.


Lind-Bohanon is one of the far north neighborhoods in the Camden Community in Minneapolis. The neighborhood sits between the Mississippi River and the rail yards of Humboldt Industrial Area. Lind-Bohanon is a socially tight community that has been around since the 1800s, and various families here have lived in the community for generations. The neighborhood has a population of around 5, 322, and it consists of a diverse community of residents from the U.S. as well as other states across Asia and Europe.


Humboldt Industrial is a section of the Camden district in north Minneapolis. This neighborhood is entirely an industrial area that is made up of warehouses, factories, and production buildings. Humboldt Industrial is bordered by 49th Ave. to the north, Humboldt Ave. N to the east, Canadian Pacific Railroad to the south, and the city boundary of Brooklyn Center to the west.  The north and east areas of this neighborhood are made up of industrial buildings while the southern part includes a railway yard.


The Victory community has plenty of open, green spaces, thanks to the commitment of the local authorities to preserve the nature and historic integrity of the parkway. The park is always full of residents and visitors taking part in diverse activities. Locals also frequent ice cream social gatherings, concerts, garage sales, and the famous Steamworks Coffee & Tea. There are also a ton of winter activities like ice fishing, ice rinks, and cross country skiing as well as sports leagues, arts events, and youth programs.


This neighborhood is a mix of an industrial area and a residential community. The residential portion of Webber-Camden is made up of a small community of around 5,185 people. There are numerous housing options, including homes for purchase and rent, and rental apartments. Some homes here represent the working class and young professionals, and these are common around the industrial area.  Other homes represent the middle class which includes young families and empty nesters who have moved here to get away from the noisy city.


Living in Camden Industrial means being a part of a large community of about 31,250 residents from different cultural backgrounds. The 2000 Minneapolis census provided by Hennepin County showed a great ethnic diversity (42% Caucasian/whites, 34% African-American, 15% Asian. 5% Hispanic and 4% other).  Compared to the Twin Cities, the average household income in Camden is nearly $200,000 less with 77% of homes in the neighborhood being owner-occupied. It is also rare to find a townhome going above $120,000 in Camden. The noise of the freeway, the two railroads, and the industries can take a toll on anyone.


Columbia Park is a neighborhood that is named after three items: the Columbia Park itself which is the most popular landmark in this neighborhood, the park’s acquisition year in 1892 which celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s first voyage to America, and the adjacent suburb of Columbia Heights. Much of the neighborhood is the park itself, but there are residential and commercial spaces situated north and west of the park. There is also an industrial land and a railway road located to the south of the park. According to the latest statistics, this neighborhood has a population of around 1, 700.


Marshall Terrace is a neighborhood that is located in the northeast community of Minneapolis. The neighborhood is named after Minnesota’s fifth governor, William R. Marshall who served the city from 1866 to 1870. Marshall Terrace is bordered by Saint Anthony Parkway to the north, Lowry Ave. to the south, 4th St. NE and University Ave. to the east, and the Mississippi River to the west.


Residents in Cleveland enjoy living in a beautiful, secure neighborhood that gives off an urban feel. Most houses are historic homes, often single-family dwellings which a large number of the dwellers own. Even so, the city offers affordable apartment options which cater to both the middle and upper-class populace. You will find Cleveland to be a fantastic place to live, especially if you are as liberal as the people who reside there.


The Folwell community is named after Dr. William W. Folwell, leading head of the University of Minnesota. Like most of Minneapolis neighborhoods, Folwell is a residential area. Houses are mainly single-family bungalows. Many people living in Folwell own private residential buildings, but there are also rental apartments available at affordable prices. Living in Folwell is presently accessible because of the fluctuation of properties’ costs over the years.


The McKinley neighborhood is a turf on Minneapolis’ northern side. It is encircled by Dowling Avenue North on the north, Lowry Avenue North on the south, Mississippi River on the east, and Dupont Avenue North on the west, McKinley. Many of those who live in the area work in the immediate industrial areas, which make it a short commute for residents.


The population of Bottineau is around 1684 people. This sparse population is due to the fact that Bottineau was once an abandoned town during the white flight of the 50s and 60s. Artists started moving in the area in the 18th century and converted most of what was left into an art town. Therefore, Bottineau is a perfect neighborhood for anyone who loves art and is looking for an affordable area to rent.


Residing in Holland is the epitome of urban life. Over the years, the area has transformed to become part of Northeast Minneapolis Arts Districts, thanks its numerous art galleries. On top of that, extensive amenities and a seamless transportation system make Holland a neighborhood difficult to ignore for house hunters. The area’s population is about 4980 (as of 2016), most of whom reside in rental apartments.


Public parks in the area include Munsinger and Clemens Gardens. Malls in the area include Crossroads centers, Marketplace Shopping Center, and Riverwood Mall. Medical services are provided by major health centers like St. Cloud and Veterans Hospital. Available public libraries include Great River Regional Library, Stearns County Law Library, and Great River Regional Library.


This neighbourhood is predominantly residential. Many consider it one of the finest places to live in Southwest Minneapolis because of its peaceful existence. From Audubon Park, it is a walking distance to downtown Minneapolis, great local shops, the Mall of America, the lakes, and the airport. Most of the houses in this area come about at around 1949 to 1969.


The neighborhood is primarily a residential hub except for a few commercial units mainly situated on Central Avenue. It is quite close to downtown, the University of Minnesota, and of course, the famous Windom Park, a vibrant outdoor space where locals and visitors love to spend endless hours doing lots of recreational activities.


Northeast is what you would refer to as an embodiment of the old meets new. Here, you will find both cobblestone streets and newly paved roads. New businesses open their doors next to historic stores and premises. The neighborhood has done a great job of preserving the old while still embracing the new.


The 150-acre neighborhood is largely occupied by residential units (40%) followed by industrial units (30%). The rest of it abounds parks and other recreational amenities.  Logan Park is carefully divided into a residential district and an industrial area by the railroad tracks that run parallel to Central Avenue. Other buildings that fill up the community include the Northrop King Building, Van Buren Building, Architectural Antiques Building, and the Waterbury Building.


Sheridan has all kinds of amenities. The area has numerous bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and even parks. The Sheridan Memorial Park is the most significant park in this area because it honors all Minnesota veterans in its Sheridan Veterans Memorial area. For art fanatics, the Arts Avenue in Sheridan is an art hotspot that you will absolutely love. More importantly, there are numerous top-notch educational facilities that include specialized schools in this area, something that is highly attractive to those with families.


Armatage scores quite highly when it comes to amenities. To begin with, you have access to an array of amenities that include high end restaurants like the Bubba Gump Shrimp and coffee shops such as the Cave Vine. There are also commercial centers, gyms, parks, bars/ clubs, and family-oriented establishments. You can say that Armatage schools are the best in all of Minneapolis considering that the area’s average test score is 76%. Schools like the Armatage Montessori and Minnehaha Academy are always posting excellent results.


Bancroft is a suburb within the Powderhorn neighborhood in the state of Minnesota. Bancroft region lies adjacent to East 38th Street (north), East 42nd Street (south), Cedar Avenue (east), and Chicago Avenue (west). It’s positioning offers excellent access to downtown by being close to the airport and Bloomington through Cedar Avenue, plus by the Hiawatha Corridor, Interstate 35W.
